Building a wellbeing culture from the ground up

Prescient is a South African financial services company with a clear conviction: that employee wellbeing is not a nice-to-have, but a strategic priority. With a close-knit team, they wanted to provide something genuinely meaningful - a solution that brought physical, mental, and nutritional wellbeing together in one place.

From the outset, Prescient was determined not to settle for a generic wellness offering. They wanted to give their people access to the best tools available, delivered in a way that felt personal, engaging, and relevant to everyday life. They also had a broader ambition: to elevate their flagship wellness moments, including the annual Prescient Run, held in partnership with Merrell.

Prescient became one of Strove’s very first clients -a partnership built on shared values and a mutual commitment to doing wellbeing properly.

The challenge

Prescient needed a platform that could match their ambitions: comprehensive, engaging, and capable of supporting employees across all activity levels and health goals - not just the already-active.

The key challenges were:

  • Bringing all dimensions of wellbeing together - physical, mental, and nutritional - into a single, cohesive experience
  • Driving inclusive participation across a workforce with varied fitness levels and lifestyle habits
  • Making wellbeing feel relevant and personalised to Prescient’s culture, rather than off-the-shelf
  • Integrating with key company moments, such as their annual Prescient Run with Merrell

Why Strove

Prescient chose Strove for its ability to deliver a complete, joined-up wellbeing experience - one that could be tailored to their culture and scaled to their whole team. The platform’s combination of gamification, habit-building, personalised challenges, and rich wellbeing content made it the clear fit.

With Strove, Prescient was able to:

  • Personalise challenges to reflect Prescient’s identity and make participation more accessible for everyone
  • Drive healthy competition through team challenges and leaderboards that connected colleagues across offices
  • Support wellbeing through guided meditation, meal inspiration, and activity tracking
  • Reward consistent engagement through an evolving rewards offering that keeps motivation high
  • Gain visibility through reporting and wellbeing insights
  • Bring their flagship events to life by integrating live activities directly into the Strove platform

The rollout

Prescient launched Strove with strong internal momentum, leaning on their existing wellness culture to drive early adoption. The team used internal communications and a structured onboarding approach to get employees activated quickly - achieving a 98% activation rate across their workforce.

A standout moment in the partnership has been the integration of the annual Prescient Run with Merrell. Strove added dedicated run and walk options directly to the platform, allowing participants to track their metrics in real time and earn coins for their activity - turning a flagship company event into a fully connected wellbeing experience.

Prescient also participated in the Strove 2026 Q1 Campaign, further deepening engagement at the start of the year.

The impact

Prescient’s results reflect a workforce that has genuinely embraced the platform - with consistently high engagement across movement, challenges, and wellbeing behaviours.

This has translated into meaningful daily behaviour:

  • 66 average active minutes per member per day
  • 7,000 average steps per member per day
  • 7.1 hours average sleep per night

Employees who might not have engaged with traditional wellness programmes are now showing up consistently - whether through daily habits, team challenges, or simply tracking their sleep. The platform has made wellbeing feel approachable and rewarding for everyone.

“Employees who previously didn’t engage in traditional wellness programmes are now participating consistently:”

"We have really enjoyed our partnership with the team at Strove. They are passionate about what they do, and the app is easy to use and invites some healthy competition for our teams, whilst driving more understanding of both physical and emotional health."

— Joanne Meyer, Head of Talent, Prescient

At the same time, highly active employees are using the platform to stay accountable and build on existing habits:

"Our partnership with Strove has really improved how we approach wellness at Prescient. The platform makes it simple for our teams to stay active and keep moving, while also helping people feel more connected across offices. We also love that it allows us to personalise challenges to suit Prescient, making them more relevant and accessible for everyone. Beyond movement, the added features like guided meditation and meal ideas have been a great touch, supporting overall wellbeing in a more holistic way. The rewards have also continued to improve, which keeps everyone motivated and engaged. Strove has had a clear, positive impact on our wellness pillar and is a trusted partner in supporting our people’s wellbeing."

— Nombulelo Mgabadeli, Talent Specialist, Prescient

What comes next

Prescient continues to evolve their wellbeing strategy, with plans to deepen engagement across all pillars and explore new Strove features as they roll out. Upcoming initiatives include further personalisation of challenges, building on the success of their run integration, and continuing to use wellbeing data to inform their people strategy.

After years of partnership, Prescient and Strove remain united by the same conviction: that great wellbeing support, done right, can genuinely change how people feel at work - and beyond.
